Since 1934, Camp YoliJwa has been leading children and youth of all ages to the example of Christ
CAMP YOLIJWA, the summer camping program of the Eastern Regional Conference of Churches of God, is held at Doubling Gap Center. YoliJwa (Youth Living Jesus' Way) is designed to provide an opportunity for children, youth, and adults to share in Christian living experiences.
The East Pennsylvania Eldership of the Churches of God General Conference (Findlay, OH) began the YoliJwa camping program in 1934. Through the vision and interest of Rev. Roy Schreiner, the East Pennsylvania Eldership made arrangements with the Lutheran Synod to utilize its campsite, Nawakwa, for one week during the summer of 1934. Rev. Schreiner served as Dean of Camps. This arrangement was continued each summer through 1946 when the Lutheran site was no longer available to our denomination.
In November of 1946, the East Pennsylvania Eldership purchased the facilities and surrounding property at the Doubling Gap Center. Preparations were made, and in 1947, Camp YoliJwa held its first summer camping season with 3 weeks of camp. Today, the YoliJwa program includes 15 different week-long, resident camps each summer along with 8 weekend retreats throughout the year. God is Good!
